Affiliate links have been around for a long time and are increasing in popularity as well as scope.  An affiliate link in essence is a link placed on a website or blog that is geared to advertise products that you might be looking for.  With the targeted and tracking capabilities of websites and advertisers you will have noticed over time that based on your most recent searches you are provided with relevant links on various websites that you visit.

The most obvious forms wher you can notice this is within any web based email prorgam that you may be using such as Yahoo, MSN, Aol and others.  If you notice the ads that run on these sites, 90% of the time they will be geared directly to you in a fashion based on previous searches that you may have done.
